can any tell me why i keep getting this message, 

Hmm, an invite error...

Sorry, we couldn't find the server that was shared with you.

It could be that the person who invited you may have canceled the invitation, or the link in the invitation email may not have been preserved correctly.

 

i have him sharing mine but says this when i click his invite. ive had him added before but he just got a reinvite and i know its the right addy he's sent me the invite a few times but keeps saying the same

Had the same issue.  First have them go to the Plex sign up (not sign in) page and create an account.  Bam!  All was good.

Have sent an Invitation to my son and all appears to be good. Sent Invite to my wife and I get the following message:

“Hmm, an invite error…
Sorry, an error happened when accepting the invitation.”

How and why is this now happening?

This is still an issue when sending invites to emails with no associated plex account. After they sign up I am able to invite via username

This is a non sense issue, that is so easy to fix that it is unbelieveble it is still happens. Please Plex Support, tell me what is the technical complexity to check if the address already exists as a Plex User and, if not, direct it to a sign up page allowing the user to create a new account and be able to accept the invitation?

This shouldn’t be an issue. If a user does not already have a Plex account, they are sent 2 emails. 1 to sign up fro Plex then the invite.

There’s an workaround for this issue…

  1. First Create the Plex account for which you want to add into your plex dashboard.
  2. Then send the invite from the plex media server account to the new account…
  3. After sending the invite open the settings page of the other plex account and
    goto myaccount look for Family And Settings and click on sharing menu item where you will see the invite and accept the invite from there…And Voila…You are done!!!

Hi,

Yesterday I added my cousin without any problem. He already had a plex account.

Today invited my coworker, without plex account, and this error happenned.
I tried inviting another of my email address, also without plex account, and the same error.

Turns out on my 2nd email address only received 1 mail: the invite.
No trace of the mail to sign up to Plex.

The invite link produces this error even after the accounts have been created.

I finally managed to invite my coworker and my other email using @timelf123 method a.k.a “invite via username”: asked the coworker to invite me as friend using my username, then accepted his friend request, then sharing him my libaries.

We can still see my first attempt at inviting him without plex account (pending invite A1) but also the second attempt: his accepted friend request (A2) to which I shared my libraries.

Same thing for my other email, pending invite (B1) and added as friend once account created (B2).
