Home and Recommended Sections failing to load content

I’ve been using Plex for years with no almost no issues until a week ago. Whenever I go to the Home tab or the Movie (and TV) Library Recommended Tab it will fail to load some or all of the sections. My media plays fine, and loading the Movie/TV Library tab is basically instant. Just Home and Recommended. My Music Library Works fine, no issues on it’s Tab.

Current setup: Unraid Docker: plexinc/pms-docker:latest. Metadata is on a 1TB Samsung 860 Evo SSD, that is only 10% full. Library DB is 253MB and blobs DB is 542MB.

On the Home Tab it will spin for 30 seconds then then show just sections from my TV Library. I have about 14 Movie related sections on my Home page (none of which show up).

If I wait about 60 seconds then try and reload the page it will show all sections instantly. I’ve noticed a lot of “Slow Query” messages in the logs this past week.

I have tried, disabling the section one by one, but it still struggles to load no matter how few or many sections are enabled. I have also tried, cleaning bundles, optimizing database, deleting the photo transcode folder, running the PlexDBRepair script. Running chmod/chown in case of a permissions issue. I have also tried changing Database Cache Size, no difference between 40MB and 2048MB (current).

Not sure what else to do other than nuke my db and restart, which I really don’t want to do. Any help would be appreciated.

For anyone who has a similar problem and finds this post. The issue was due to Unraid’s FUSE overhead. I had plex config pointed at /mnt/user/docker/plex/ which caused it to use the unraid filesystem that automatically combines multiple drives. This FUSE was causing massive slowdowns even though there was only one drive on the share. Changing the config to /mnt/cache/docker/plex/ fixed the slowdowns. Also changed it for Tautulli which sped that up too. Just don’t forget you set it up like this since changing cache/pool drives can cause issues in the future. I found the solution in this reddit post Unraid and Plex - Tip for massive performance boost. from 4 years ago. Not sure what caused the slowdown, unraid update, settings change, random glitch, or crossing some plex size threshold.

TLDR: Change docker config path from /mnt/user/docker/plex/ to /mnt/cache/docker/plex/ but be careful when modifying your cache drive in the future.
