Plex Crashing every night

Server Version#: 1.26.2.5797

For the last few weeks pms has been becoming unresponsive overnight and i would need to restart the docker container, i have tried moving scheduled jobs to during the day to see if that was the culprit as well as turning off tautulli and moving backup jobs from overnight.

I have also tried downgrading pms to a version from a couple months ago.

So far i have had no luck

System logs are below

Any help would be appreciated!

com.plexapp.system.log (172.9 KB)
com.plexapp.system1.log (39.1 KB)
com.plexapp.system2.log (182.5 KB)
com.plexapp.system3.log (32.0 KB)
com.plexapp.system4.log (36.2 KB)
Plex Media Server Logs_2022-05-27_08-03-26.zip (6.3 MB)

Thanks!

I just had an issue that has very similar symptoms. Running UNRAID you should forgo using the filesystem and directly mount your appdata. Does your docker container logs spit a database error? If so, this is your ticket.

Just mount the appdata directly from your cache mountpoint. instead of /mnt/user/appdata - use /mnt/cache/appdata

Hope this helps.

I found this on a few forums and changed appdata to be cache unfortunately no luck

Docker Container also has no errors, it used to show Sqlite3: Sleeping for 200ms to retry busy DB but after changing jobs around this does not come up anymore, it just stops working overnight

Check the location of the Plex Data Folder for your system.

There is a Plex Data Folder in the same directory structure as your TV shows, /tv/Tv/PlexData (see snippet from Plex Media Server.log below).

When Plex Media Server scans a Plex Data Folder bad things happen, such as system instability.

If this is the actual Plex Data Folder for your server, move it to the correct location for unraid/docker installations.

If it is not the actual Plex Data Folder for your server, then delete it (or at least move it out of your TV show libraries).

FYI, the log files also reference /config/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server, so /tv/TV/PlexData appears to be a duplicate, backup, etc., but double check your system before taking any action.

After you correct the situation, play a movie and tv show episode to make sure Plex still sees your media correctly.

Then clean the /tv/Tv/PlexData information from the Plex database:

  1. From the Plex Web home page, select MORE > at the bottom of your list of libraries.
  2. Move your mouse over the three vertical dots to the right of your server name.
  3. Scan your libraries.
  4. Empty Trash
  5. Clean Bundles.
  6. Optimize the database.

Thanks Mate, I have taken all steps as suggested, will check back in tomorrow and hopefully it fixes the issue.

Appreciate it!

looks like this was potentially the issue, i stopped a couple dockers last night as well which i will leave on tonight and see if it stays up overnight again.

Thanks heaps!
