Unable to load home or tv show recommended tab

Server Version#: 1.18.8.2468
Player Version#: 1.5.0.951

I am having an issue where the home page and the recommended tab for the tv shows aren’t loading at all, the error I’m getting is:
“Something went wrong
There was an error loading your home screen. Please try again in a few minutes.”
and
“There was an unexpected error loading this library
Please visit our forums if you continue to experience problems”
These errors are only occuring for 1 user, all other users can access these pages without issue.

Edit: Problem is affecting 2 users but not all users.

If this is happening with the desktop apps, please update to v1.6

If this is happening with the web app (in a browser), please use this URL:

https://app.plex.tv/desktop

You might also consider downgrading your PMS release to the latest stable version and/or not using the beta releases.

Having the same issue

Server Version 1.18.9.2571

Web Version 4.30.1

PMP Version 1.6.3.1009-57cf57c8

I had to reset customization a few times to even get the Home Screen to load. But it doesn’t show anything from the Movies/TV libraries. and i can’t load the recommended page on the TV library.

I am having the same issue. I even deleted the whole database and now it’s still no home screen and only the recommended that is not working. The library itself works. And updates?

Yes same error on my side.

I am having the exact same issue. Home Screen isn’t loading. TV Shows Recommended isn’t loading. However it perfectly works for Movies and Music.
Albeit the Recommended TV Shows isn’t loading, the librray itself works fine.

Maybe a Plex Ninja can help?

Same here.
Plex issue.
Good thing that https://status.plex.tv/ does not show any problem /s
Why the hell my own server with my own media has to check something on their shatty servers to display my home is beyond me.

Same problem here

I see this problem every day . Im a fool to pay for something that doesnt work

I’m having the same issue with the Nvidia Shield server that I just set up. No matter what player I try, the recommended tabs for my TV Show and Music libraries alI get the error described above (about being unable to load content) even though the libraries themselves load and play just fine.

The recommended tabs are working fine within my Movies and Other Videos libraries.

The only thing I can think of on my end is that these libraries possibly got corrupted when I switched storage locations for the Plex Server on the Shield after I purchased a thumb drive. I didn’t get any errors, but that’s the only thing unusual that was unusual (to my knowledge, anyway) about my setup process.

Exactly the same issue here. Updated to the latest version as otherwise I can’t access anything.

Library works fine for the TV on my android and shield TV and pc, recommend doesn’t work on any of them.

It also refuses to play one TV show which was playing just before it updated… So I’m not sure if I now need to delete that TV show to get it working.

Advice or workarounds required

Has anyone found a fix/workaround? I tried switching to a different docker container but it still has the same issue. I can switch my category to Movies and it will start to scan my TV shows folder.

This problem just popped up for me as well - home screen hubs are completely empty on local server or app.plex.tv.

I went through the logs / used the console while access the home screen and found these errors:

SQLITE3:(nil), 11, database corruption at line 79051 of [bf8c1b2b7a]
SQLITE3:(nil), 11, statement aborts at 47: [select distinct section_locations.root_path,path,metadata_items.parent_id,metadata_items.id,media_items.id from directories join media_parts on media_parts.directory_id=directories.id
Soci Exception handled: sqlite3_statement_backend::loadRS: database disk image is malformed

I just rolled back the database to a backed up version and things are working normally now

I ended up creating a new plex user and everything works for that profile. Thankfully the new profile shows on all my devices.

Same issue here.

Only an issue for my (main account holder) user account, so @smacky209 is onto something. Other users don’t have this issue.
Very annoying and restoring from backup doesn’t fix it like @burkasaurusrex suggested.

Plex Media Server Logs_2020-09-14_16-05-26.zip (7.8 MB)

Well now my newly created profile the recommended is broken. Back to the drawing board :frowning:

I ended up renaming the com.plexapp.plugins.library.db file under your Plex Media Server directory where ever you have it. Plex Media Server\Plug-in Support\Databases Then recreating my libraries. I think this latest update royally messed things up for me.

let us know how you get on.

I was on the verge of rebuilding my library from scratch (like I end up doing after every update) but if you have had no luck.

I had luck for about 5 days, Same with creating a new user profile. Only lasted a few days then I lost Home and TV Shows. I’ve been using plex for over 10 years and I’ve never encountered any issues at all. This is VERY frustrating to say the least.
