"Home Movies" library type and sharing labels?

I’ve been using labels and Plex Home to mark all of the movies in my normal movies library that I want to share with my kids. I mark each movie with a “family-friendly” label and then for my kids account share out the movies library with that label attached. So far this is working great with one major exception. I also share another library with my kids that contains all of our home movies. It was created using the “Home Movies” library type. None of the video files in this library have any tags. On my kids iPad, the library shows up but has no content inside. Is this because it’s also treated as a “movies” library type and none of the videos have the “family-friendly” tag? I haven’t tested that imperially but that seems like what is happening. This seems like a bug. Anyone else tried this setup?

If you set that "Home Movie" library to use the TV "Personal Media Shows" Agent, it will allow for the adding of labels

Your assumption is correct, the media in the "Home Movie" library would also need the "family-friendly" tag

Until there is a way to batch add sharing labels or labels can be applied at the library level, this is going to be a pain. Guess I’ll just have to accept that its busted for now :frowning:

Can anyone from Plex staff acknowledge this bug so we can get some assurance that it is at least in an internal bug tracking database and somewhere in the development backlog?

I'm not sure this is a bug.  Home videos are still just videos but with a different scanner/agent.  This would be no different then using a custom scanner/agent combo.  You can now bulk tag items so marking an entire library should be doable now.

How do I go about bulk tagging a library? I can see how I can select multiple items and bulk edit those, but my home videos library has thousands of short clips and manually selecting each so I could bulk tag them is a non-starter. Is there something in the Web client I’m missing?

Shift-click on the first video, then scroll down a bit and Shift-click again. All videos between the first and the second click are now selected for bulk editing.

I don't recommend to try this with 'thousands' of items. Start with a few dozen. then try more and more until Plex Web craps out. ;)

Ahh. Didn't know about the shift-click function. That worked like a charm and I was able to tag all of my home movies so that I could add the tag to my sharing profile. BTW, I was able to tag thousands of items at a time through the web interface without any issues!
