Home user free and not apps

should be a simple question, I have looked through the forums and cannot get a straight answer as to what gets what. A simple table would tell me but I would like a straight answer if possible.

Invited users with email invite only - what operating or apps do they get for free
Home users - With 4 digit link activation on app what do they get free/access
Managed Users - how do they differ from Home users? What apps do they get free and how to activate if they have an email VS a pin?

IOS - need to be on home user or purchase for plex pass
Android - need to be on home user or purchase for plex pass
Samsung tv app
sony tv app
Roku
Chrome casting (guess android)

I find I have different users saying they need to pay and others don’t.

I would like to be able to see what Operating systems my users are using, then add them to the appropriate category. (ie. samsung needs to be managaed to use for free, or IOS needs to be home to use for free)

Im not sure why I cannot get a simple matrix of what category of user, requirement and OS they get for free as my guest with my pass offering them my media.

Operating system / app =
user type / invite =
Requires $$$ / free =

Home users get your plex pass benefit, meaning they get the apps for free because you do.

Invited users do not.

Android and iOS (as far as I am aware) are the only ones that charge for the app, and it’s a 1 time payment of $5. It’s not much to ask your users to pay that, I don’t have a single Home user, and forced everyone who wanted access to pay for the app one time, because a lot of work went into the development of plex, and asking $5 for the mobile apps just seems fair, and besides, Android users can earn free money by doing Google Opinion rewards and use that to pay for the one time activation fee.

Hopefully that is a sufficient enough answer?

See Plex: Free vs Paid

Mobile apps - Android and iOS - have a timeout unless unlocked by:

  • Invited to be part of Plex Home (which means inviter has a Plex Pass)
  • Pay a one time $4.99 USD fee (*)
  • End user has their own Plex Pass

Non-mobile apps - SmartTV, AndroidTV, etc - always unlocked.

(*) The fee is per account per app store. Example 1: End user has iPhone & iPad tied to same Apple Store account. Pay one $4.99 fee. Example 2: End user has Android phone and iPad. Must pay $4.99 via Google to unlock Android device and $4.99 to Apple to unlock iPad. Example 3: No transferring between app stores. Have an iPhone and move to Android? Pony up another $4.99.

They get it for free, if they are also invited as Plex Home users, and not just as Friends.
