Homerun 4k - Channel 40.1/140.1 EPG

Server Version#: 1.42.2.10156
Player Version#: ANY
Tuner Make/Model: Homerun Flex 4K
Guide/Lineup name:
Using XMLTV?:
Channel number/Name: 40.1

In my broadcast area 40.1 and 140.1 are the same station, but with 140.1 being HD.

When I run a channel scan, 40.1 sometimes disappears on the Homerun and Plex can no longer use it. 140.1 always shows up in the Homerun channel scan, but the PLEX EPG data only goes as high at 68.6.

Is there a way to get plex to fetch the EPG data for 140.1? While checking 140.1, I tried selecting 40.1 for for the EPG data, but it seems that doing so causes plex to try and tune to 40.1 - and if the homerun has lost that channel, it wont tune.

Channel 140.1 is the ATSC 3.0 version of 40.1. However, Plex doesn’t currently support ATSC 3.0 channels, for a variety of reasons. (The primary being that it requires support for the AC-4 audio codec, which Plex is not currently license to use.)

There are also potential problems with DRM present on many ATSC 3.0 channels (which Plex will likely never support).

You’ll likely need to work with the fine folks on the SiliconDust (HDHomeRun) forums to see what you can do to improve your reception of the ATSC 1.0 40.1 broadcast.

But, to answer your specific question, Plex doesn’t have guide data for the HDHomeRun’s ATSC 3.0 channels; the HDHomeRun just adds 100 to the channel number to differentiate it. It’s still technically 40.1. But it’s moot anyway, since ATSC 3.0 channels can’t be used with Plex.
