House of the Dragon Open Intro Theme

Can someone from the plex team look into the default theme from House of the Dragon which plays when viewing the episodes within the plex app(s) ?

It should be playing this House of the Dragon - Opening Intro (Theme Song) - YouTube but its not. Think its pulling a track score from the pilot episode and not the show’s theme.

Well, you’re doing better than me. I don’t get any theme music for that show lol

Maybe your notification caused them to look into it and they’re in the middle of fixing it

Something I noticed while testing this

On HTPC for windows, I can enable or disable theme music BUT…

If I try to switch from Medium to low or low to quiet, the entire app becomes unresponsive and I get a black screen

The only way to correct it is to collapse the window and exit/reopen the app

Have you tried this?

They must have fixed it as it plays correctly for me.

Tried to emulate this and nope, no issue for me.

Windows 11 Pro.

Edit - could it be a GPU driver issue or perhaps some other interface setting you have ?

Interesting… not fixed for me (yet). I’ll check again in the morning and if not then I’ll plex dance the show. Thanks.

I am running PMS 64 bit and latest beta if that makes any difference.

Most likely the same, Version 1.29.1.6260 on 64bit ubuntu.

Could be a timing thing. I added the show pretty much immediately when it aired so could have a stale cache for the theme lurking around in the plex media server metadata files.

Will experiment tomorrow when I’m back at my actual PC. Would have assumed a metadata refresh would update it if the correct one is working for you but maybe a dance is needed. Thanks all the same to you both for the replies.

Windows 1.26.1.3276-53fefb7d (latest public)

@JohnAlex , after it froze about 5 times in a row I waited a while and tried it again. Seems to be switching without any problems now

After having no music for the show a refresh metadata and library scan seem to fix mine @anon5074910

Thanks guys

Okay so a full plex dance of the show was needed.

Guess this is a bug where if the theme changed on the plex side it does NOT flow down into your the local plex server correctly. A standard metadata refresh did update the theme, only a plex dance sorted it.

One final update. I ran another test. I took a backup of my server, before doing the plex dance of the show, which still contained the incorrect theme.

I subsequently then 1) stopped plex, 2) deleted the contents of /var/lib/plexmediaserver/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/Metadata, 3) restarted the server and 4) refreshed all my plex libraries.

Plex then downloaded the correct theme for the show.

Based on my testing, I guess as theme changes happen so infrequently that the metadata refresh code does not update it and it needs to be forced via a manual nuke of the metadata or a plex dance of the show. @drzoidberg33 adding you for awareness in case this scenario is of interest.

Well, I have to apologise.

I had to do a fresh install of Win 11 Pro and on using Plex HTPC after setup, it also locked up doing what you described.

I’m using PMS 64 bit beta as well if that matters.

I had to do an End Process to kill Plex as it locked up.

This is very interesting as I have seen the same behavior on my side. (Also while changing background music volume) I also opened a thread about this one two months ago but no response there. =>

A bit off-topic. But does anyone happen to know the name of the track that it used to play instead of the main theme?
