I have all my movies stored on one PC which is Asleep most of the time.
I realise I can Use WakeonLan from an App on my Mobile Phone that will do the job.
But I would like to know if the Plex Media Server is Smart enough to Do The Same Thing.
And if so, How.
Nope. sleeping drives, yes, sleeping computer, no.
Once you wake the computer with wake-on-lan, PMS will wake up (assuming it was running)
I Watch my Movies on my Smart TV, from a Plew App on this TV.
Now I have instructed Plex to Use My Movie Database Located on a SSD in My Computer.
So if that computer happens to be Asleep when Plex goes to find any of those movies, it get’s lost because the PC holding them is Offline.
That PC is in an External room from the house and is not used very much.
So I have Two ways to Wake it up so I can watch movies and that is No1 , Wake it up Manually or No2 , Use the Wake on Lan App on my mobile Phone.
So I was just looking for a less complicated way of Waking it up and was wondering if there was some way to get Plex to Do It.???.
Plex doesn’t have WOL support.
That’s very OS/device-specific implementation.
Plex might know the IP address of the host but that mechanism immediately fails in containers (which are popular)
