How can I control where Plexamp is streaming from?

I’m trying out Plexamp and up until now I had remote access to my plex server disabled. I enabled it but still the port forwarding hasn’t worked for some reason and the server it’s still not reachable over the internet (every other port forwarded for other services in this server work). Clearly I still have to figure out some stuff in that regard but that’s not the reason for this post, my issue is that Plexamp it’s still able to stream the songs in “my library” even though it’s not reaching my server which makes debugging more difficult for me. Songs that are only available in my server are not streamed, I know it’s not streaming it from my server but some other service in the background that isn’t made entirely transparent to me (is this behavior documented anywhere?). I can see how this might be useful sometimes but for now I’d like to disable this behavior, where can I do it? Been through the server settings but didn’t found it. I’m also seeing random artists in my Artists section that are definitely not part of my actual library, where can I disable that stuff from showing up? Must be an ad but it’s not made transparent to me that it is an ad. Any help would be appreciated.

Server Version#: 1.26.2.5797, Linux
Player Version#: 4.7.4, Android

  • Plexamp might be using a relay connection to your server. Which is usually fast enough for music playback.
  • If you have a Tidal account and have linked it to your Plex account, Plexamp can also stream Tidal content.
  • If other Plex users have shared a music library with your Plex account, Plexamp can also stream from their library.

Take a look into the preferences of Plexamp, to see which media source is selected.

Can I disable this relay connection?

Use the hosted web app
Settings - Server - ‘Show Advanced’ - Network - enable relay
