Plexamp (iPhone) does not stream from the plex server but Plex Player (iPhone) does via mobile net

Plex Pass Owner
Hi Support,
i cannot stream from my plexserver to plexamp since 2 months now. I tried also reinstall the app but it did not help. It simply do not see the server over a mobile network (but plexamp works via public WLAN’s - including my own LAN, also VPN via Wireguard).

Strangely the “normal” plex player works via mobile net (remote access is green in the settings). Quiet desperate because i cannot use carplay so i cannot listen to my music when driving.

Please help,
Thanks sapublic

Case closed , it was internal error within Plexamp. With the latest update the app works. What makes frustrated that nobody, even from the support team of Plexamp answered.

I’m experiencing a very similar issue up to and including 4.9.3

Over the past two months I’ve had a number of occurrences of plexamp losing connection to my home server. Going into the source menu shows Tidal only, but neither of my two Plex audio sources. During this time, I have no issues accessing music from another mobile device, and even on the affected Android device I can access the music library via the normal Plex app.

Often to fix the issue I need to fully restart my phone, and even that doesn’t seem to work 100% of the time. Otherwise, joining my home network, either via Wifi or VPN, restores connectivity temporarily.

All instances seem to occur once I’ve been in my car, and I am suspecting a third party Android Auto wired-to-wireless converter (which my phone connects to as a wifi AP) is being seen as a valid WAN connection by Plexamp despite the OS correctly identifying it a AP with no internet connection. The symptoms persist even after disconnecting from the AP.

Hi Jim,
it seems that you have a android phone, I had my problems with an iPhone… Try to use it w/o wired-to-wireless converter, Do you have android Car to hear the music via you car"radio" ?

Happy weekend,
sapublic.
