You can never have “too many” streaming devices. 
I have several Rokus, Fire 4K TV, Fire stick, Shield TV and a couple of Android boxes. If things go wrong and it not a server or network problem I can almost always get something to work right.
Watch for deals and you can get backup clients at quite a cheap price. I saw a 4K Fire stick for $19.95 a couple of days ago.
You can’t sideload older apps on Roku devices.
I think @Boo.Radley may be referring to FireStick or other Android based devices.
Ahh - thanks. Cool - it might be worth getting some of those Fire Sticks as a backup/fallback solution if the Rokus all get blown up by the update, at least until I figure out whether the PMS update on the NAS actually works OK.
Does Plex offer copies of the old/current Fire Plex players or do you have to go searching the web trying to find some?
I don’t think Plex supplies old versions but safe .apk copies are always available.
