Reload the old plex on Roku?

Server Version#:1.42.1.10060
Player Version#:8.6.5

Hello,

My Roku Ultra 2024 edition just auto updated to the latest plex. I’d really like to load the older plex back.

I’m sure plenty of people like the new interface but for someone with 6 categories and several thousand media selections, I find the new interface cumbersome. The left hand libraries selection was much more efficient for me. If there was a dedicated libraries button on the remote I would care but skipping up to the top add many more jumps for me.

No one likes the new interface and we can’t go back.

There might be someone who likes the new PLEX UI, but I would guess that user is rare. I am a long time veteran of PLEX, and a PLEX Pass subscriber for many years. I am currently integrating my media into Emby. This of course does have a learning curve, but so did PLEX.

Based on your post, it seems that you can access your server through the Plex Roku app. Unfortunately, my connection has been lost, and I have not received any support. It is fortunate that you are still able to view your content.

I think there are three.

Only one i see on forum…most likely a plex paid content creator on youtube

This reminds me of the parable about I wept because I had no shoes and then I saw someone with no feet.

So even if you use a thumb drive, there is no way to load the old version. I probably sound like a whiner but the new interface is beyond just bad for my needs.

Please, this interface is bad for 99.9% of people.

I cannot describe my level of frustration with this new UI in words that are constructive. This is, without a doubt, the worst update I have ever experienced with Plex and I will have to start migrating to another application because this is flat out unusable.

It’s beyond AWFUL. I’m ditching my Roku and changing to another device!

I wouldn’t go crazy, this UI is rolling out to everything eventually

Has anyone seen any updates from the Plex staff on this? This new UI is so bad that I just bought an Apple TV to replace the Roku. I just hope they don’t update the apple client the same way.

Yes, in short: We hear you, but we don’t care. Get over it.

The changes to the interface don’t bother me, I can adapt! But I have two identical, synced servers (one in my main residence, the other in my other place where the network is often flakey so I need a local copy). Continue Watching now shows the next up show twice. If I shut down the remote server, it shows only once, so it is not consolidating as it used to as and other Plex apps (ios, web) do. Changing the libraries on home screen and global search works, but unless I am mistaken, that will mean that the remote site only shows the other sites libraries on the home page - and then will play them from that site (?). Restoring on-deck consolidation to the Roku app would be the best solution for me.

My connection was lost on one Roku, then the other one lost its while it was actually playing a movie!!!

“at this time we aren’t planning on rolling back this update. While there are many reports of people not having the greatest initial experience, we do have quite a few updates and things”

That response sounds like - the beatings will continue until morale improves.

Ok stupid question though - what is stopping this hot garbage from spreading to not-Roku? Feels like a new device will just delay the problem…

I’m equally peev d - nothing is linked and the UI is freaking impossible to navigate. BUT, new device just delays the problem since the issue is with Plex here, not Roku.

That’s the plan, a unified interface of …this

I also hate the new interface. The sidebar removal is a step backwards.
