Can I go back to the old Plex software as the new updates is HORRIBLE!

#1

A few weeks back, our FireTV's automatically installed the latest Plex software and after giving it a few weeks, we can't stand it.

Plex has turned a rich, beautiful, intuitive media viewing app into a mish-mosh of unintuitive crap that makes it hard for us to know where we are or get to what we want. If there is a rhyme-or-reason to it, our brains don't work that way. It's flat, ugly and practically impossible to get the the episodes we want in less than 50 clicks of the remote. "Start from beginning" is now "Mark as unwatched"...how is that intuitive? The first required one click to start playing from the beginning, the latter (if you can understand that marking it as unwatched, then you play it) requires 2. What's the point?

Plex has gone from a "10" to a "3" in one software update. So, can we go back to the old software or does it no longer work with my media server (Windows)? If I can sideload the old version to get back to nirvana, we'd love to go there.

Quoted - for Impact:

Join the multitudes of happy users - thrilled with the new and improved Plex App for AFTV and Sticks.
Clearly Plex has reached new heights with their dedication, hard work - and uncanny ability to port an app hated by one user group to another, then run and hide....:

It took a second but I see sarcasm in your post, and buried deep within is a post about how to remove and reinstall the previous "good" version. I have a regular FireTV (not a stick) but I assume the procedure is the same.

Has Plex not responded to the backlash of the new GUI? This is the kind of update that makes me wonder who sits around in the corporate meetings, where everyone gets to use and see the new software. No one says "this SUCKS!"??? It's so obvious it's a step backwards (almost like they copied Windows File Explorer in thumbnail mode), that someone who works there must be a hell of a convincer!

Oh, sarcasm - I got.

Plex has responded just as they always do - they vanished moments after they dropped that runny turd.
In the first moments we were insulted by Staff and told to: 'Use it for a while and get used to it before offering Constructive Criticism'. That was said as the staffer was seen running from the building with his hair on fire. Since then the symphony of Crickets has been deafening - over a month ago.

Plex had/has no plans to improve said disaster. Those calming words were offered only as lip service to the community in full riot mode. Nothing has changed. Nothing ever changes. Plex is unable or unwilling to develop a usable app for AFTV/Sticks and that's exactly where we are. The same place we've always been.

Sideload Kodi and use the plex addon or sideload the older version of plex referenced above. They seem to have dropped the update and abandoned the forum so those are the only two options at this point.

I’m really hoping that Plex doesn’t decide to do any more work on the Plex Kodi add-on. While it’s not bug-free it’s a lot more stable and intuitive than the (not even that new any more) Plex app is on my Fire TV. I can deal with rough edges and confusing patterns, but my non-technical wife & daughter have no interest in that.

I’ve been trying for months to get used to the new app, but it’s still a piece of junk. It crashes within an hour nearly every time I use it. Every single action takes more clicks and is non-obvious compared to the old UI. I’ve definitely not gotten used to the new interface which remains a baffling exercise in bad UX.
