How can I limit the number of users that can stream at any given time?

Hi, I have Plex Pass.

I’d like to limit the number of non local streams to 7 users/streams at any given time.

Does anybody know how I would do this?

Thanks, Steven

You currently cannot do this in that exact fashion…
However there’s 2 advanced settings that should help to achieve what you’re looking for:

  1. Settings > Remote Access > Limit remote stream bitrate
  2. Settings > Network > Remote streams allowed per user

Edit: re-reading your question I figure #2 might actually be exactly what you’re looking for

Thank you for your response. That only tells me how to limit streaks per user. I’m looking to limit total streams.

That’s all you can do, or have less users

If you set the overall upload speed of your internet connection under
Settings > Remote Access > Internet upload speed
and the
Settings > Remote Access > Limit remote stream bitrate

You can achieve something similar like a ‘number of streams’ limit.

Thanks. Do you know how happens if the limit is reached that way and if somebody new tries to stream?

They should get a message about “not enough stream slots” and to try again later (not sure of the exact wording).

Thanks both of you.

It’s much appreciated.
