How can I not see my friends activity

I would really prefer not to see information about what my friends have watched or their watch list, but I can find no way of actually disabling it. If I use the web app and look at my friends I see their Watch History and Watch list. But I do not want to.

I know they can change settings in their profile to disable it, but that applies to all friends. They may want to use the social features with their other friends, (who am I to judge)

I have set them all to muted. But still see this info

Is there a setting I have missed, or is this not possible?

Sorry i just cannot resist posting this:
To totally ignore what people are doing I find shutting my eyes very tightly and sticking my fingers in my ears and humming very loudly to nearly totally block external stimulus of any sort.

Maybe mute them?

I have tried that.

I still want to share libraries, so cannot block them

If you just want to remove the activity bar from your preplay pages, but want to keep the ability to receive problem reports about your media:
Go here: https://app.plex.tv/desktop/#!/settings/online-media-sources
and disable the bottom option.

It is the friends page that I am talking about:

If the user has set to their settings to private, you get this

If not you get to see the users Watched History and Watchlist.

All I am saying is that If I have muted the user I would not expect to see this information.

Maybe a message like “This account’s Plex Activity is Muted”

There is no activity as such on this screen shot. And you have explicitly clicked on the user’s name, so I am a bit confused.

That screenshot was from a user with profile set to private.

For other users you get something like this: (info obscured by me)

You will see the user has been muted, so I would expect the information, Watch History and Watchlist to not be displayed, hence my suggestion if the user is muted for a message
“This account’s Plex Activity is Muted”

I am sure I will get some silly reply like, well just don’t bother clicking on the user

You need to click on the user to mute them.

The action of “muting” is intended to suppress all appearances of this user in the Activity tabs, both in the Discover source as well as in the activity pages of individual videos.

Your request begs the question:
If you despise this user so much, that you don’t want to see the slightest bit of his/her activity, then why is it among your Plex friends in the first place?

But maybe I’m missing something. What is the use case of this?

That is a bit harsh, I don’t despise my users at all.

I just think that the mute option should hide all the information not just some of it, in the same way as them making their information private.

ah, so in the end it was simple, just unfriend them but do not revoke library access.

I did not realise they do not have to be a ‘Plex Friend’ to have access to my libraries.

(But then it has been a long time since I added anybody, as the onboarding process is now way too complicated for new users)

If I need or want to see what they have watched from My server I can still find this in the dashboard.

Yeah, I forgot to suggest this – Sorry!
The separation is new since the public release of this feature.
