How can I revert to previous PMS version on mac?

Yesterday I installed a fresh copy of Sierra on an extra iMac I have. Literally the only software on it is Plex. I installed it and then updated it to most recent version. Now, on a brand new install of Mac OS X, plex crashes every few hours. Everything is up to date. I would just simply like to revert to the most recent version before this one. I found a few posts online about using the “updates” folder inside of the plex data folder under application support but there aren’t any specific instructions on what to do exactly with the contents folder that unzips out of the last version that was in there. I tried replacing the contents folder inside of the newest plex media server application with the unzipped one but it does not work. It is also significantly smaller. And I read somewhere that plex no longer maintains the archive of older version installers. Please help if you know how to do this.

As Plex Pass, you have the choice between PP (1.7.2) and Public (1.5.6).

Anything else would be from prior copies newer than 1.5.1 which you have.

I have 1.7.2. The version directly before that worked perfectly the day before yesterday. How can I roll it back?

download from public.
uninstall what you have
install the one you download from public.

Hello,

I’d like to install an older version of PMS on my Mac because of stalled recording issues.

Are there any instructions specific to revert to an older Mac version of PMS? I tried replacing the ‘Content’ folder as described in other forums but that won’t launch.

Thanks for your help.

I don’t know how OSX separates PMS executables from data. I believe you can simply uninstall the package and your Library will still exist in ~/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/ under your home directory. Once uninstalled, you can then install the version you wish.

I advise making a copy of it to be certain you don't lose anything first
