how can i sync subtitles?

Hi there! i’m using the latest plex media server in windows 10, and i’m using the automatically downloaded subtitles from opensubtitles.org, however sometimes they are a bit out of sync. how can i fix that for every movie/TV show?

Some clients allow to shift the subtitles with a special key
OpenPHT and PMP can do it. But this is only temporary and it doesn’t fix the delay for all the other Plex clients.

So a better solution would be to:

  1. fetch the automatically downloaded subtitle file using WebTools
  2. edit it and resynchronise it using Subtitle Edit
  3. store it beside your video file https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/200471133-Adding-Local-Subtitles-to-Your-Media

For about a year, Galkim asked how to fix the sync.

OttoKerner replied with a good answer.

But! I would like to have PLEX add so the text can sync in realtime with remove/add seconds in how much time it should shift.
Can that be done by plex in any way?

Yes, this can be done in Kodi so should be able to do in Plex.

Strange conclusion. Plex is not Kodi.

Come on - that’s not strange at all. It’s totally reasonable to look for similar functionality between competing products. That doesn’t mean Plex is obligated to deliver the same functionality, but it’s not strange for their customers to ask about it.

I set my roku app client to to “burn subtitles: always” and it fixed my issue. I have an 8 core cpu, so I’m not too worried about server processing.
