I have swiped up for the home gesture about TWO DOZEN TIMES.
ONE SINGLE TIME IT OPENED IN PIP. ONE SINGLE TIME.

oooh, it gets better, if i open playback settings, clicking “Lock to Landscape” does nothing. oh wait, it’s worth than nothing, it insta-closes the playback settings witthout changing anything.
I almost wish I didn’t have the lifetime subscription so I could cancel it and have a reason to actually just get this ■■■■ out of my life.
This isn’t even to mention that the ENTIRE REASON I’m doing this on my phone is because the video comes through 90% GREEN in both firefox and chrome.
How about we start with which mobile apps are you’re talking about.
Android. On a Pixel 6a, running latest Android 14.
I tried again, and mis-clicked my Calculator Quick Settings tile. And it went into PIP! Maybe I found a workaround. And then I tried to do the same things 4 more times and it didn’t work any of those times.
it just doesn’t work. demo of the bug(s) I explained above.
Okay. New data:

Stop playback, back out to the selection page where you have the option to “Play”.

Start playback.

Use quick settings tile to open Calculator. (PIP works)

Go back to Plex.

Use quick settings tile to open Calculator. (PIP works)

Now it’s just impossible to trigger PIP, even using the Calculator/Tile trick.
I can’r reproduce it not working from swiping up from bottom, possibly because I am on a Pixel 7 but will keep trying. Thanks for those steps to repeat. I will pass along feedback to see if we can add a button.
I was able to reproduce the Lock to Landscape issue there when clicking on the toggle, which I will make a report about. You should be able to click on the actual words of the setting on left not the toggle/button on right and it appears to work
