How do I add folders on my NAS to my library?

I just downloaded the Plex Media Server on to my Windows desktop and want to add about 65000 music files from my Synology DS218j NAS to a Plex Library.

It only lets me select folders from my desktop, not my network. Do I need to install the media server on my NAS?

I have tried to add the pathname of the Synology folder to the grey box in the Add Folder window, but it does not recognize it.

I’m sure this is a very dumb question, but please can someone help?

Thanks!

This should have worked if you put the name correct. The easiest way to do this is to use the Windows file explorer to navigate to the path then copy and paste that into the box.

Alternatively, if you mount your NAS to a drive letter, you can then browse around to find your folders.

Map the folder containing the target media on your Synology to a drive letter in Win 10, which will make it visible for you to point to from within PLEX and easy to manipulate using Windows File Explorer.

Mapping the folder worked great. Thanks for your help!
