How do I delete Movie Posters?

I want to delete the posters that I added for a particular movie. Presuming that it should work, I deleted the movie. At a later time, I reloaded and reinitiated PMS scan to find the movie. NONE of the posters were deleted! Why not? And how can I delete posters?

It depends somewhat on how you add them ... but assuming it was through the Plex/Web GUI, try this:

  1. Delete (or move) the movie from the library section's scan path
  2. Refresh the section (should see the triangular yellow exclamation mark over the movie poster in the section)
  3. Empty the trash for that section (the exclamation marked movie should no longer display)
  4. From the Plex/Web home screen, More...\Clean Bundles

Step #4 is the one that actually clears out the artwork for the deleted movies from the metadata and the database. Otherwise, the metadata and artwork is retained in the event that the media storage is temporarily offline or unavailable the scanners will not have to rebuild the media bundles anew.

Edit: Step #2 is just for troubleshooting ... normally you could just do 1, 3 & 4 to accomplish the purging...

I found it hard to find the right folder when sorting by Date Modified as the parent folders still showed original date. I found another way to the folder.

Go into in the Poster selection
Right click on the poster and Inspect Element
The file name is followed by upload://posters/

Just search for that in:
C:\Users[username]\AppData\Local\Plex Media Server\Metadata\Movies
C:\Users[username]\AppData\Local\Plex Media Server\Metadata\TV Shows
or
PlexMediaServer/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/Metadata/Movies
PlexMediaServer/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/Metadata/TV Shows
