How do I disable/remove OpenSubtitles from working

How do I force OpenSubtitles to not work, or remove it completely?

So I placed my Last Man Standing in Plex, and no matter what I do, the Subtitles are showing. When I am in the player, they show as disabled, if I select a subtitle it downloaded, it shows two sets. I made sure all the settings are correct in PMS, I disabled it from the TV Shows folder, and even made sure the language of the video and audio were set to English. Yet after all that, it still displays the subtitles!
I removed all the srt files from the directory structure, and it is still there, and I know the video itself does not have subtitles burned in… I am really frustrated, if I want subtitles, I will add them myself or burn them to the video itself if needed.

If you had the OpenSubtitles agent enabled previously and it downloaded the subtitle, there isn’t an easy way to remove those. Plex hasn’t added that ability. Turn off the agent, then Plex Dance the episode and the subtitle file will get removed too.

Similar request.

So I would need to do the Plex Dance for the existing episodes, but how can I make sure it won’t happen in the future? The opensubtitles are really a pain, I know it can be a great feature to many, but I don’t want it. I would love to just go in and remove the agent from the system for my PMS.

The automatic subtitles from open subtitles is an agent. Go through the main agents you use and turn it off by unchecking the box

I just uploaded some new tv shows and a movie and they are automatically showing subtitles. There are no subtitles in the movie files themselves, verified through VLC and such, but no matter what they when played on my Plex App on my Samsung TV, subtitles are being put in the show. I can’t disable the subtitles, they will show no matter what.

Notice they are disabled for both shows and movies. I also changed the password on the the opensubtitles.org so it shouldn’t be able to download them.

the strange thing is it seems to only happen on my Samsung TV?

it still works without a password. a login just removes a daily limit of 50 i think.

that is strange. So when you are in the web app and you click on some media in the subtitles dropdown is it there?

Just wondering if its anything to do with the bug that automatically enables subtitles when you manually select an audio track – for example stereo to surround It’s an annoying bug, and maybe it also enables the automatic download of subtitles. .

It affects all apps, and on some you don’t even have to even change an audio track, just open the dialog, and subtitles are automatically enabled.

that seems to be about subtitles being enabled that are already there. ( correct me if i am wrong) his issue is that he says subtitles that do not exist are being downloaded.

The way I see it, they might be forced downloaded, maybe due to user prefs for default prefs?
And OP might have set that to English subs, due to when watching medias nor with English language, or?

That is true for me, but I always have a subtitle track either as a side-car srt file or embedded in the file. So it automatically selects the first subtitle available in my preferred language… I don’t know what happens if you don’t have a subtitle track available on your server.

it should not do anything. Especially since he has OpenSubs turned off now. (which only kicks in during scan or other metadata refresh)

I’ve never had OpenSubs enabled, but I still get the option to download subtitles. Just saying.

The automatic downloading of subtitles needs to be an option that can be turned off at the server level, even if that isn’t the problem in this case.

The open subtitles agent is separate thing from the subtitles on demand feature.

the agent only downloads when media is scanned in for the first time or during a scheduled tasks to update metadata. this works based on the agent being enabled in agent settings which his are not.

the subs on demand feature, that is in the player via “more…” in the sub title menu, should only allow you to download subtitles if you actually hit more and search for them intentionally. they should never download automatically.

I have seen the report that if another shared user uses the Subtitle on Demand feature then the subs get enabled for others on that server, which afaik would be a bug ( that I can’t reproduce yet) but those should show in all apps not just one (his Samsung) as the OP stated in his most recent post.

If you are talking about PlexWeb - Disable the option to download subtitles from opensubtitles.org I never said “just one (my Samsung)”
Subtitles appear on all platforms

Interesting thing, even more confusing that Plex haven’t fixed this.
Well, I found that - renaming source files (both .MP4 and .SRT to something different) actually fixed the issue.
