I do not have plex pass. I only watch locally and only watch uhf/hdr content. My setup consists of a denon atmos receiver and Sony 4k (real 4k) hdr projector. I keep getting the tone mapping error, however, I purchased an Nvidia shield so I could direct stream 4k hdr/uhd content with direct stream atmos audio. I want the shield or projector to do the tone mapping. Without plex pass, how do I disable the tone mapping?
If there is tone mapping happening, it is done by the Shield, not by Plex.
Go into the settings menu of the shield. It has a menu item to automatically switch the color space between “Rec. 2020” and “Rec. 709” ( i.e. HDR and SDR).
