PMS keeps tone mapping with my nvidia shield

So I have this nvidia shield 2017 connected to a 1080p tv. In the last weeks/months, I was watching HDR content without problem without any transcoding, all direct play. I think the tone mapping was done my the nvidia shield itself or plex client.

Now I don’t know what I did/changed but PMS keeps transcoding to do tone mapping.

I don’t want the server to do it, my cpu isn’t good enough.

The setting is disable in the settings but it keep doing it. Anyone has an idea? I want my direct play back and do tone mapping on the client.

You need to post your client logs so they can see the reason for the transcode:

I found the problem by analyzing the logs.

My nvidia shield was connected directly to my TV and the sound was passed to the soundbar via ARC (my TV didn’t support eARC).

The files I was playing was E-AC3 (atmos).

I found this log : Unable to direct play; E-AC-3 audio is not supported by the device

So I assumed it had to transcode the audio stream.

I moved the hdmi cable directly to the soundbar and now no transcode.

So it had nothing to do with tone mapping. What is strange was that Tautualli said it was transcoding the video and not the audio. I don’t understand.
