How do I display two different versions of a TV show?

The Director’s Cut of the Dune miniseries is only available in SD. I have an HD version of the regular version and would like to have access to both.
I tried “fix match” like for movies but it didn’t do anything.

These aren’t specials. These are the same three episodes, just cut differently.

I have all 3 versions of the 1984 Dune movie listed separately in my movies library, I’m trying to do the same with the show.

I want there to be a Dune (2000) and a separate Dune (2000) Director’s Cut.

You could do this:

  1. create two completely separate folder structures for this tv show
/TV/Dune (2000)
   / Season 01
      Dune (2000) - s01e01 - Dune.mkv
      Dune (2000) - s01e02 - Muad'Dib.mkv
      Dune (2000) - s01e03 - The Prophet.mkv

/TV/Dune (2000) [DC]
   / Season 01
      Dune (2000) - s01e01 - Dune.mkv
      Dune (2000) - s01e02 - Muad'Dib.mkv
      Dune (2000) - s01e03 - The Prophet.mkv
  1. When you scan this the first time, you will get only one “Dune” item in your library. But you will be able to “Split” it. https://support.plex.tv/articles/201018248-merge-or-split-items/
  2. Then you look into the Plex media info of one episode to see which is which.
  3. Then you append “director’s cut” to the title of the [DC] version.

Playback progress etc will still be shared among the two versions, so you need to know which version you were watching and then resume the correct one.

Thank you.
