How can I enable Remote Access?

tons of articles in the knowledge base and forums on this. not too hard. read up first then come back to the forums with an update. open the right plex ports on your wifi router essentially. having a fixed IP from your ISP helps but if not can still be done.

What is PMS running on? Computer? NAS?

The sequence is pretty straight forward (presuming your ISP hasn’t pulled a sneaky move)

  1. Open your browser
  2. Go to Settings -> Server -> General
  3. Make sure you log the server into your Plex account
  4. Now go to Settings -> Server -> Remote Access
  5. As your first attempt, make sure the ‘Manually specify port’ box is not checked
  6. Click Connect.
  7. PMS should connect.
  8. If it doesn’t, then we will need to find out if your ISP pulled a ‘sneaky trick’ and manually step through it.
