Just set up my PMS on my Windows 10 laptop. I created a new music library and selected “Import from iTunes” on the Advanced Settings. I also pointed it to folder where my music is stored on my WDMyCloud NAS. I have 47,000 songs, so this is going to take a while, and am concerned that there is a problem: I don’t see any of my iTunes playlists, even though several thousand songs have been added to the PMS already. I read in a Plex support article that “This option [import from iTunes] requires that iTunes be installed in the default location on the computer running Plex Media Server.” iTunes is installed on my laptop, but all of my music files that are played through iTunes are on the NAS. Does the iTunes library .itl or .xml files need to be in a “default” location? I’m not totally sure what it means that “iTunes” be installed in the default location - does this mean the application itself, the library files (.itl and .xml), the music files? What is the “default” location? Other ideas on how to get my iTunes playlists into Plex?
I have the same issue. My iTunes is installed in the default location but playlists do not import. Any suggestions?
Same problem.
Good luck getting an answer. I gave up and uninstalled PMS.
I litterally just told myself I wasnt going to give up. All I want to do is be able to not use my phone to play playlists with all good songs at the snap of a button in any room in my house. AKA alexa, tell plex to play playlist xyz. That I can easily add and delete and have it sync up with plex. Is there a plan b? I manage all my playlists in poweramp on my phone. I listen to songs, then either delete them or put them in 1 or more playlists (using genres) on my phone. Then I moved categorized songs to a specific folder that syncs with my music library on my plex server. Thinking outside the box. I have a ton of extra androids and ipads. maybe hook up a high gain mic to these and see if I can find a way for ios or android to listen for a playlist command and play to a speaker. Stupid that this doesnt work. Plan C seems to be, drop alexa for playlists and go back to phone, pick the dam thing up, pull up the genre and hit shuffle. No “next” option unless I grab the darn smartwatch and fire that back up so I can just swipe it, use it to adjust volume. Alexa so much simpler. if it would work. No time for random, average songs using amazon music or google play music. No easy way to manage playlists on these. other ideas welcomed. I was so close. Followed instructions to a T from several different posts. Ok done rambling.
