I have one listed but have no idea where it is on my computer. And I don’t know how to add one I have in I-tunes.
Regarding, importing iTunes playlists, check your Music Library options (or recreate the Music Library as needed):
Music
Import from iTunes
Enabling this option will attempt to import your music playlists from iTunes. It will also import your ratings, the date you added the music, as well as play and skip counts for tracks in your library.
This option requires that iTunes be installed in the default location on the computer running Plex Media Server.
Managing playlists depends somewhat on the client you’re using, I think. For example, using the Library View on the Web client, use the “Add to Playlist” icon (+ with the bars, next to the volume control) in the Library Bar at the top:

Doesn’t help answer the question: where does Plex find playlists?

Plex doesn’t support reading/importing playlists.
(unless you are counting in playlists from iTunes, but I have no experience whatsoever with iTunes)

right, which is what i posted about above
iTunes must be already installed on the same computer where you are setting up Plex Server.
iTunes is mentioned in this article about library creation, and that is about what I know about the topic. Sorry!

Dude, you really need to go back and read my FIRST post above – I’ve already covered just about everything you’re posting! ;^)
All, I appreciate the input but none answer the question of where I can find the playlist that is showing up in Plex. I’ve already added my I-Tunes library to Plex but it doesn’t seem to pick up the I-Tunes playlist. I’m just trying to backtrack to see where the playlist now in Plex came from. It looks like it may have picked up one from I-Tunes that I updated in I-Tunes but Plex hasn’t updated. I’ll keep looking.
where I can find the playlist that is showing up in Plex.
I’m not sure that you can in the sense that you’re asking.
What is it you’re ultimately trying to accomplish? Do you want all your iTunes playlists to show up in Plex? Do you want to delete the one playlist that you have already? Modify it?
Do you have iTunes installed on the same computer as the Plex server? And is iTunes installed in the default location?
I want my ONE i-Tunes playlist to show up in Plex. Since my last post, I deleted the one Plex playlist from an unknown location. Then I enabled the iTunes channel in Plex Channels and the library is in the default location as defined by Plex. I deleted my original iTunes library in Plex and re-added it by using the “+” in Libraries and pointing it to my media location. Both the iTunes .itl library and an .xml library I created are in the default location. At this point Plex is downloading all the metadata for music in the library. Everything is on my Dell XPS.
I realize I may be asking a question for which there is no answer. I appreciate all the input and your follow-up darcilicious!
As in my first post, when you create a Music library and point the folder location to where your iTunes library file is located, you will get the following option:
Import from iTunes
Importing from iTunes will import your music playlists. It will also import your ratings, the date you added the music, as well as play and skip counts for tracks in your library.
Hopefully you ticked that option when you created the Music library in Plex.
Plex does not use playlist in the typical sense of a text file listing the music files, i.e. M3U file. Plex’s playlist is stored in an internal database. The same one used to catalog everything else. You cannot view, edit, add these playlists manually from the database. If you tried using the import from iTunes option and it didn’t work, then the following possibilities may be involved.
1 - PMS could not find your iTunes xml file. Newer versions of iTunes does not use this and you need to turn it back on in iTunes.
2 - Your iTunes is not installed in the default location. If so, you need to tell PMS where the XML file is. Settings \ Server \ Channels \ iTunes library XML path
3 - Your iTunes playlists are smart playlists and their equivalent could not be created in Plex.
MovieFan, iTunes is in the default location but the library is an .itl file. How do I turn on the " Newer versions of iTunes does not use this and you need to turn it back on in iTunes."? darcilicious, I clicked all available options.
I’ve decided the easiest action is to create the playlist inside Plex. I appreciate all the advice but you all have better things to do!
This talks about how to create the iTunes library in the necessary XML format: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201610
You said that you clicked all available options, unfortunately that doesn’t tell me if the iTunes option was available.
