When i Click HOME i expect to go HOME not to an empty left bar where you can ■■■■.
It sounds like you unpinned all of your libraries. You should see a “More >” link in the left menu. Click that. That should show all of the libraries/Plex servers associated with your account. Click on the 3 dot menu to the right of the library and select Pin. Effectively you are composing what should appear when you click on Home. To exit this mode click on Pinned at the top of the left menu.
You may have also lost connection to your server, which would then only display Plex’s online content only?
Yes i have the “more” link, and can pin things
All pins i had was removed when i logged out/in in web-app)or what ever the browser plex thing is called).
The thing is. I didn’t add any Pins, i dont see the point in pinning something that is already there, only “hidden” behind another click. ALL My libraries should be on the Left side always, not behind More>
Then simply configure it that way! Go under more and pin everything.
Me, I’d rather my “favorites” be pinned and my “seldom used libraries” be behind More. I guess it’s because I have a number of libraries that I infrequently use like “Lectures” and “Documentaries”, etc. that if I pinned them all would only cause me to have to scroll all the time.
And logging out and back into what I call the Plex Web App, should not cause the items you pinned to become unpinned. Two notes: 1) as AmazingRando24 points out, if you have an outage to your Plex server then I believe that is only shown under More, and 2) Your configuration of things like pinned items can be different from say the Plex Web App and Plex running on a Smart TV. It may even be different between the Plex Web App running in Chrome and running in Firefox or running on different physical computers.
Because of this and the errors now getting… Kissing Plex goodbye. I used you guys because I WANTED MY OWN LIBRARY. Now, you polute my views, share my data, and generally get in my way. No more. No more buying from you a license to run something that is done by others without the issues. Have fun, Plex.
Yeah, whatever you do, do not tell us what errors you are getting because we might help you and then you’ll be stuck with Plex. Keep making unsubstantiated claims too. That’s great!
Since there’s really nothing here I guess this should just be closed.
so are you arguing FOR less customization?
Me? No. I was sarcastically hinting at getting some clarification of what the problem was but it seems clear the OP has “exited the building” so there’s really no point in continuing.
im not in this place each day, got a life going on.
And i still want the HOME screen too be my HOME screen not some POS pinned crap.
Nope, just did a logout / login in Web-app. Server chugging along as usual. (unless the web-app is that stupid it disconnect from server when you log off/ inn)
Some people’s lives include doing things like being here. I mean you’re here right? And I assure you I have many other things going on in my life too and I’m not here every day.
If you re-read what you posted before it is VERY confusing what you are trying to achieve. For example, the title of this post asks “how do you get rid of that PINNED BS on what is supposed to be Home Screen” and then your very next statement says that when you click on home the left bar is empty. Now pinned stuff is pinned in the left bar. So the natural question is why are you complaining about stuff that even you say is not there?
I don’t understand what you mean by you saying you “want the HOME screen to be your HOME screen”. How exactly do you want your home screen to look? How are you not able to make it look that way? For example, you say “ALL My libraries should be on the Left side always”. Great. The way to achieve that is to pin them! Then you say “I don’t see the point in pinning something that is already there” - the point is that if you want them to stay there then you pin them!
So you seem to have the functionality to achieve at least some of the goals of what you wish to achieve yet somehow you also seem to be stubbornly refusing to use them rejecting them directly out of hand.
Now maybe I didn’t interpret your desires correctly and if so can you help me understand what you are trying to achieve, what you tried, and how it failed to meet your expectations. Because from where I sit it’s unclear at least to me.
I’m starting to wonder if the pins are being deleted every time the OP starts up a client. This can be caused (if you use browser app) by deleting your cookies on exit, since the pinned sources are saved PER CLIENT, not server-side.
First off. I have newer pinned anything, the library was “pinned by default” for some reason, so i didn’t really notice they where pinned. And the pins got deleted when i logged off / In on web-app.
Now i dont want that Pinned bs to be the Default “home” screen, i want my Normal library to be that, like it was Before Pinned was added and not even made optional.
Um. Not sure what you had then. It’s been only “pins” in the Plex interface for at LEAST 2 years now, when I started using it.
So then pin the stuff you want and un-pin everything else.
Well then prepared to be unhappy. The way you want it is not supported. I suggest you get a full refund and exit quietly out the back door.
“More >” means go to everything pinned or not. When it says “< Pinned” the word pinned is a button to with the left back arrow meaning “go back to your Pinned items”. It is not a label of what you are seeing below it, which are all things pinned or not.
I suppose it might be clearer if it said “<Home”. Afaik it was not designed that way because of possible confusion with the HOME item with the house icon.
If you are on the page that says MORE at the bottom but there is nothing above MORE except “Home” then you need to pin the libraries you want as was mentioned by others
When you are explicitly logging off, you are basically deleting all app preferences. That includes what is pinned and what is not. So don’t do that without good reason.
Upon setting up a new app, you should see a first-run wizard.
It asks you about which is the default server (if you have access to more than one) and then proceeds to pin all libraries of said server by default. You can unselect libraries from getting pinned during this process.
You can re-invoke this first-run wizard in the web app (and Plex for Windows/Mac/Linux) by going to
Settings - Plex Web - ‘Show Advanced’ - Debug - “RESTORE DEFAULTS”
