How do I get the media server on my xbox 360

I have installed plex on my xbox 360, I have registered and subscribed. When I log onto my plex it says it cannot find my media server. I then go to the web with the pin then go back and login again and try it all over again.

Please help

Have you installed the Plex Media Server component on your computer? Plex uses a client/server setup, you need a computer with the files on it (and software installed) for the Xbox to play the media from.

Thank you adamskoog. I thought PMS had to be installed on my xbox. I am gonna try your suggetion.

Is it possible to use XBOX 360 as the Computer that is running the Plex Media Server?

The network would look something like : PMS Running on XBox360 as the host server (always kept on) which can connect to network attached storage device with all the content. The host server (aka PMS running on the xbox) has the power to stream to other devices (i.e. the clients).

Has this been done? Can I set this up?

@benschmucker no, this is not possible on an Xbox (360 or One). They can only act as a client to the server, not the server itself.
