Media Server no longer showing on XBOX 360

I have an xbox 360 that is bridged to my desktop internet connection via a hard connection.  The desktop is linked to the internet through a wireless connection.  I can see my desktop video folder on the xbox under system video player, but I can no longer see the Plex Media Server.  I have used it for nearly a year with no issues but now it is not showing.  I uninstalled and reinstalled it, and it showed back up for about half a day and then disappeared again.  I've made sure the settings in the PC Media Server are to share with the XBOX.  I've restarted everything.  It is just simply not showing.  Is there an issue with a firewall or router setting possibly? (I can't reset the router, it isn't mine).

I'd much rather continue using the Plex Media Server rather than the video folders file (XBOX seems to hate a lot of formats when I try to play from there, not to mention stopping mid-program often).

Any ideas?

Are you saying that your xbox is connected to your wireless router?  Sorry but it's hard to tell what you;re saying there.

That is a weird setup you got there. 360 bridged to desktop. I know you can do that, but why would you? And then the desktop is connected wirelessly to your home network… Is just an unusual setup. Is the same desktop running Plex server as well??? That might be an issue.

it no longer works on my xbox 360 as well, unable to to see my server - no green light!  :(

My desktop where my media is stored is connected to the internet via wifi.  I'm moving so do not have internet at my place.  I'm sharing with a neighbor with their consent but I have no access to the router for this reason.  My 360 does not have a wireless adapter.  That's why I have it hard wired and bridged to the desktop.  Why I have it set up the way I do is irrelavent.  HOW I have it set up is relavent to my setup. Because this setup DOES work and has historically caused no issues.  AND it still works if I uninstall and reinstall plex from my desktop.  The problem is...after a short period of time (like a couple hours) it disappears from my available devices on the xbox with no change by me.  So I'm wondering what's causing this so I can fix it.  Is it a firewall issue... A router issue....a plex issue ...an xbox issue?   I've addressed everything I can think of.

The reason is plex does not deal well with multiple network adapters.  If it's a windows setup you could try adjusting the network priority list for the adapters and making the LAN connection higher priority.   The other thing that you may be experiencing is if your xbox is pulling an IP via ICS that is similar to the IP that's being handed out by your neighbors router it could cause some issues.

Do you think setting a manual ip address would help?

Setting a manual ip address on the xbox I mean....
