I thought Plezy wasn’t available for tvOS. Great if it is ![]()
Yeah, Flutter (which is what is being used for cross-platform dev) isn’t officially supported for tvOS, but they were able to get a build done with a patched version of Flutter. Only real issue I’m having is DV isn’t kicking in - defaulting back to HDR 10.
But the dev is actively looking into it.
I am still thinking they are going to open source the PMS at some point and just leave it up to us to maintain. They will still support it in their apps though only minimally. If we want a really solid player then we will just have to look at third party options. Honestly that would be the best case scenario at this point.
I know they indicate that they have a large number of users that don’t watch from self-hosted Plex servers, and only watch Plex hosted content. But I really wonder how many of them will stick around for just the Plex content. With so many other FAST providers, can Plex actually compete?
I think whatever numbers they’re looking at… they were attractive enough to reconsider which bread they butter.
I used their FAST offering exactly one time and it was the worst experience ever. Literally like trying to watch a movie on some janky pirate site. There’s no way they can compete in technology, scale, or content.
I’ve used it a few times. Commercial overload keeps me from using it often.
That was probably the biggest issue. The same exact commercials every 10 minutes. Not even in my native language mind you.
That seems to one of the big complaints about most of the FAST streamers. Tubi definitely has it and even Philo has very repetitive commercials.
And its not just the streamers, a lot of the time my TV is on MeTV which is an over the air channel featuring classic tv like Bonanza, Perry Mason and so on. Holy cow, I so sick of most of their commercials.
Which is exactly why I switched to Plex, to not have commercials ![]()
