How do I make my Wifes Plex account only see stuff she wants to see, not everything that is there?

I setup an account for my wife as she kept complaining it was overwhelming to scroll thru all the TV shows to try to find the things she wants to watch. But I am not seeing a way to narrow it down except watchlists. And Watchlists make it even more difficult as all sorts of sources we don’t subscribe to, show up to watch the episodes starting with season 1. She is on season 64 or similar from General Hospital so thats a non starter. Most things on Plex are recorded from an OTA antenna via SageTV (as Plex recordings were extremely unreliable a couple years back, and not willing to put her (me) thru that again, for my safety.) What am I missing? Is there a way to add all her recorded General Hospitals to a watchlist instead of showing every season like it does? And a new one gets recorded every weekday. Is there some other way?
Once I can figure out one of them, I am hoping I can stop her complaints so we can keep using Plex. -Bill

Users cannot currently hide/ignore certain media (although there’s a feature suggestion asking for such an option).
That leaves you with restricting what you share with the account of your wife… e.g. applying a restriction based on labels you assign to items — either sharing only items with a specific label (whitelisting) or hide items with a specific label (blacklisting).

I had a similar situation with my sister. She only wanted access to a few things. I set up 2 folders for her - (TV and Movies) specifically with things she wanted to watch. Those are the only folders she has access to. She has a number of weekly shows she likes. I record those and add them to her folder. Sometimes it’s a movie or two. Those get added. She doesn’t get overwhelmed nor does she see things she doesn’t have interest in. I just delete stuff from her folder when she tells me that she’s watched it. All of the Plex “free” channels are turned off across the board so that’s not an issue. I may have multiple copies of files so others have access to the same shows/movies but I have ample storage so that’s not an issue. And it takes a little bit more work on my part but not that much that it’s a problem. Hope that helps a little.

Someone suggested Collections. I set one up for her. We will see if new episodes of shows will automatically add themselves. I would prefer not to be involved with adding and deletions… Sort of seems like something that should have been in the initial release to allow hiding shows from some. -Bill

My guess is that whoever suggested to use Collections actually had the suggestion of buzzard199 in mind and meant a separate library. Collections will do you little to no good when it comes to restricting libraries. For sure you can point your wife to only look at that particular collection… but that doesn’t seem to be a sustainable solution.

Right now it seems to work fine, no complaints yet. But Im sure that won’t last long. I was able to add her collection to the home screen, and move it to the top which was nice! Much easier for her to find. Hoping her new soaps will be auto added to the collection, but probably not which will be a problem.

They will if you’re using a smart collection (applying an advanced filter to a library and save the result as a Smart Collection (e.g. filtering by show names and displaying all unwatched episodes sorted by air date).
