I’ve got a Hauppage WinTV Dual HD plugged into my Shield TV. There are many channels in my area (uk) that should play in HD but only play in sd. Have I set it up incorrectly or are they not supported?
Did you activate the channels on the DVR settings? I play Freeview HD channels fine with my HDHomerun tuner
It looks like my usb tuner is only seeing sd channels when it’s tuning. The mappings on the epg list (after entering postcode) list as ‘hd’ but the actual channels on the left have no mention of hd.
It could be that the content isn’t being broadcast in HD. I am not sure about the UK, but I have seen that many times on various channels in the US.
The HD channels are 101 (BBC One HD) and above. If you don’t see that channel you don’t have a DVB-T2 tuner

Nope, this is incorrect. The tuner is HD capable
I have investigated this in depth on linux with the Hauppage WinTV Dual HD on linux in the UK. I am having a similar issue see here for the notes https://forums.plex.tv/discussion/276365/uk-no-hd-channels-freeview-hauppauge-dual-hd-dvb-t2-linux
basically, when plex is scanning the channels, it is only using dvb-t not dvb-t2. the tunerworks on windows playing HD, and the tuner scans on linux finding HD channels using the dvbv5-scan application
