How do I go back to an earlier version of plex without destroying my setup. My LG TVs only play for a few seconds on some files since about a week ago. Today’s update is no better.
You look in application data for the Updates folder. C:\Users\xxxxx\AppData\Local\Plex Media Server\Updates.
(By default Windows hides AppData.)
Previous version are in there. You would exit the server and then remove Plex via Control Panel. This should not affect your existing libraries. Manually install earlier version from your updates folder.
Just came here to say I found out the newest version on Mac, 1.4.2.3400, is also affected by this “bug” consisting of playing only a couple of seconds before quiting on my remote LG TV as well. Hopefully I can also downgrade but I think this should be reported somewhere… I’ll try posting in the Mac forum as well.
This is very good advice, do it. You will first think its your router, then your computer, then maybe the humidity, but it isn’t. It’s the software. It’s the PLEX but. I am an IT Mgr. from the old school, and i use PLEX on Server 2016. It piggy backs my system, and when it works I love it. This current bug I don’t love. Make sure you uninstall the PLEX application first. Then go back a few versions. I went back four six months. Check out those dates, brothers and sisters. During the install, from the archive files, you will see a few prompts so go for it. Good luck
