How do I roll back to a prior server version, the latest update completely changed and destroyed everything I have done for the past two years. Really disappointed, starting to think I wasted my money. Appreciate any help that well get me out of the latest update!!! Version 4.8.3
Rolling back on Windows works as follows:
-
note down your current Plex Server software version
-
Stop Plex Server using its tray icon.
-
uninstall Plex Server with the regular ‘Apps’ control panel of Windows. Do not use 3rd party ‘uninstaller’ software like Revo etc. Do not use Registry cleaners/optimizers.
-
go to your Plex data folder.
There is a subfolder in there, namedUpdates
which will contain previous versions of the installer .exe -
execute the installer for the previous software version
-
reboot Windows (just a safety measure, it may work without rebooting as well)
How about telling what you mean with “completely changed and destroyed everything I have done for the past two years”. Maybe there is a quick fix (or at least a reason why it acted like it did, and a way to prevent it in the future.)
Thanks, just what I needed. With the last update done either yesterday or today, don’t remember, the structure of the dashboard completely changed removing several items that I use almost daily, and that I now can only open using a cumbersome process, very frustrating. Deleting libraries now also deletes the files on my computer which it never did before. REALLY a problem. Layout of the dashboard left panel is totally useless, which has always been very nice and very handy. Start to wonder who is consulted before these major changes are made, not sure people would agree they are needed. Thanks…
This sounds as if you do not need to roll back
but to just give this a read:

Already went thru that in my server menus, exactly not what I have been using and even shows that many things I use and need that are now cumbersome to find, thanks, but that is the problem! Us old people would appreciate having things work and not change just because someone thinks they have a better idea, it very seldom works out.
