Both my Firesticks stopped working with my Plex Media server after I applied the latest update (1.12.3.4973). How can I roll back to the previous working version.
Rolling back on Windows works as follows:
-
note down your current Plex Server software version
-
Stop Plex Server using its tray icon.
-
uninstall Plex Server with the regular ‘Apps’ control panel of Windows. Do not use 3rd party ‘uninstaller’ software like Revo etc. Do not use Registry cleaners/optimizers.
-
go to your Plex data folder.
There is a subfolder in there, namedUpdates
which will contain previous versions of the installer .exe -
execute the installer for the previous software version
-
reboot Windows (just a safety measure, it may work without rebooting as well)
Thanks! That did the trick.
Nope, after step 2, Plex Server folder is empty, all data was deleted along when Plex was uninstalled…
Worked for me, easy peasy, thanks!
I love you.
I’ve had microstutters every single second on my LGTV lately. Turns out all 1.18.x.xxxx version creates this suttering every second for me. Rolling back to version 1.16.5.1554 did the trick. Everything is now stutter free!
Thank you.
I still don’t understand why Plex keeps using their clients as testers.
Every other update we have to rollback because something is broken.
Apparently the most stable one is the 1.16.5.1554…
So very well Plex, keep your focus on third party media, thanks!
Simple, turn the Beta updates off
Horrendous issues are/were in the stable release, not just a beta release.
Obviously not on some Windows Servers.
Who told you I’m on beta releases?
Btw, if you’re just bored and need to write something, you could try and help the community…
The original question (from nearly two years ago) was answered. Posts from the last 30 days are off-topic so I’m closing this thread.
If you are having issues with Plex, please start a new thread and include PMS logs, server version, and a description of the issue.
Thank you.
