I let Plex server do an upgrade and now I’m stuck with the 32bit version, which doesn’t support game libraries. And it’s causing other issues as well. I asked another question and Plex said that there was no ETA on a 64bit version of the software. How do I download the latest 64bit version of Plex Server for Windows? I plan on rolling back but I regularly keep my downloads folder clean.
There never has been a publicly available 64bit build of Plex server for Windows.
(except a few weeks ago, for just a few hours. But that was a test build which should not be used by regular users. And the availability of Plex Arcade has nothing to do with 64 bit vs. 32 Bit.)
That’s not what I’m being told when I go to set up a game library, which was still an option. Regardless, I’d prefer running 64 bit apps. It’s unfortunate that the plex arcade is retired, but the option to create a game library is still there. My biggest question really boils down to when a 64bit build will be available and if there is no ETA, I’d like to roll back.
Wait, are you saying there has NEVER been a 64 bit build for Windows? That is absolutely wrong, I have downloaded the 64 bit version every single time, there were always two options, one for 32 and one for 64. Are you saying that a 64 bit version has never been available?
That’s what I’m saying.
For Windows, there has never been a 64bit server build.
I don’t know what you’re remembering. Maybe a Plex build for Linux, maybe a completely different media server product. But certainly not Plex server for Windows.
Nope, it was for Windows. I have always downloaded the 64 bit version. There were two orange buttons, one for 32, one for 64. And yes you can roll back, it’s an uninstall, reinstall.
I am NOT much of a Plex defender. In fact I am one of the people that has bashed most everything Plex has done for the last few years. However I can say that @OttoKerner is telling the absolute truth. I watched for a 64 bit Plex for Windows for years and there has NEVER been one, although it was “promised”, off and on, for over 10 years.
I have seen others claim to have seen/downloaded a 64 bit Plex server BUT I have never seen anyone substantiate the claim in any manner that can in any way be or was verified.
Plex, please, do not think I have suddenly become a friend. I just have found that there are so many perfectly valid reasons to detest Plex that I do not need falsehoods or exaggerations to support my disgust.
In this case Plex falls into the region of the idea of prejudice:
“Prejudice is one of the most stupid things on earth because there are so many perfectly good reasons to dislike people on an individual basis”
