I can’t figure out how to search programs and schedule recordings without using the server interface on my PC. Shouldn’t I be able to do this using the plex app on my roku for example? Am I doing something wrong? There’s no way I can convince my wife to use this if the only way to see the program guide is inside the server.
You should be able to access the plex web interface from any computer, not just your PC. If you’re saying that your wife doesn’t want to use any computer to schedule recordings, that’s a reasonable position, but I haven’t seen any controls for that in the Roku app or the Android app.
The only way to schedule recordings is with the web interface. I’m in the same boat as you, I really hope Plex adds the ability to set recordings using the apps and also for managed users to set recordings too. It’s the only way it’ll be used by anyone other than me in our household.
Remember, this is only beta software and is likely not feature complete.
What about plex home theater? Had anyone tried that?
All the software clients are the same in that there isn’t any DVR functionality. Just the web client for now.
Hi again, is there any plan to allow remote scheduling via Plex mobile apps (iOS, Android)?
You can already remotely schedule using iOS, Android support is coming soon!
