I have Plex on the Synology, playing to my TV. My issue is that I’m adding new Rifftrax as their own library so I can get the movie posters to make it look nice, since putting it in a TV show, where I originally wanted it, won’t let me use movie posters. So every time I add a movie or short, which happens fairly often, ALL the names of my shorts or movies change to the file names. That generates a 15-20 minute jaunt through over 300 movies and another 300 shorts every single time I add a new movie or short. This is neither desired nor expected behavior for my Plex. How do I stop it? All I want from the scanning is to put a new file into the library for me to tag manually.
Could this be based on information from embedded metadata inside your files?
For anything beyond that you’ll need to provide some more details… e.g. – is this about a Movie or Other Video type library? Do you enter the titles/metadata manually or are the items matched? If you manually set the information… are you making sure they’re locked to prevent them from being changed?
It’s a Movie-type library, manually added metadata.
“Values-UnderstandingOurselves.wmv” is the file name, which I changed to:
“Values: Understanding Ourselves”
But it’s reverting back to “Values-UnderstandingOurselves”
Same with:
Rifftrax - WeDiscoverThedictionary_iPad.mp4
changed to: “We Discover the Dictionary”
reverting to: “Rifftrax - WeDiscoverThedictionary_iPad”
There’s an orange lock icon next to the titles for everything I manually changed, but if I rescan, or add/delete, the 100/357 I’ve already changed revert to the file names.
There’s another file: ShopliftingPrevented_HDMed.mp4, which does have the title “Shoplifting Prevented” in its Properties, but it reverts to “ShopliftingPrevented_HDMed” when I add/remove/scan files in my library.
