EX4 is not supported anymore because there is no actual linux kernel update available anymore for the Kirkwood chipset of EX4. Therefore EX4 is out of support at the Linux, unfortunately.
EX4100 is, more or less, the grand-grandson of EX4, so the Plex packages are totally different to the old one for EX4. The SoC System-on-Chip of EX4100 is Marvel ARMADA 388 chipset. The operating system of the My Cloud devices check the software compatibility of packages, thatâs why the package is rejected. It would not work anyway.
This is 100% unacceptable. I bought mine not even 2 years ago and when trying to update plex on my EX4 to try and troubleshoot some other issues with plex on my mobile device, you are telling us that EX4 is no longer supported!? I am seriously PISSED! Where am I supposed to download an older version to get my Plex server back up and running? I dont have the money to just BUY a new NAS that supports the linux kernel. Like what in the actual hell, WD!?
I have EX4 and not able to install the update. Now I know why but that is just plain ugly. I paid $400 for my WD EX4 and what am I supposed to do now???
I have the same issue. Even bought a Plex Pass only to find out later the EX4 is no longer supported. I am trying to find the older plex file 9.16.0 to see if I can use the NAS in some fashion.

figured it out. I just stopped the app and uploaded the update via the UI as if it were a new app.
I downloaded the .bin file and opened MyCloudMirror, under the Apps section I clicked on the + as if I was going to install an app, then at the bottom of the window there is an âInstall manuallyâ option, I selected the downloaded .bin file and and clicked âopenâ. This asked me if I want to overwrite the existing install, âYesâ, and complete thatâs all there was too it, no database to re-download of all my movies and tv shows, it was all intact. I hope this helps everyone.

You donât have to uninstall the existing app.
Turn off the Plex app from the app menu of WD mycloud mirrror dashboard.
again from the app menu of WD mycloud mirrror dashboard, click add app:
Then choose the new .bin file and do manual update. it will install the update
I didnât even have to turn it off, it was quick and worked fine.
it works perfectly:
Download the update for your WD NAS to your computer(a .bin file).
Open your My Cloud User Interface.
Navigate to the Apps Page.
Select âAdd a new Appâ (the small box with a â+â on the lower left.)
Select âManually add a new App.â
Navigate to where you downloaded the update file (.bin).
I was able to do this no problem, but it certainly was not intuitive as it was on mu Mac.
I have a PR4100 with 24TB of storage and I am very excited.
First I downloaded the update right from the link provided. I learned quickly just running it does nothing.
I navigated to the apps section of the My Cloud Dashboard and clicked on install an app manually.
I ran the downloaded package and it immediately asked if I wanted to upgrade plex, did its thing and bam I was done.
this was exactly my issue, thank you! Went to plex server download and selected the proper one for my PR4100. now I just need to figure out why i keep getting a transcoder issue out of space when I have 6 TB free in the directory the transcoder points to, lol.
