How do I use Plex without knocking my router out of wack?

I have been trying to use Plex for a week or so now with no luck. I installed the server app on my Windows 7 PC on my Dell XPS system. Whenever I try to watch a movie from my server that is on my pc streaming to my Toshiba Amazon Fire TV it never works. It will start but then say the server has been lost.

Then my entire router/modem will go wonky and I will lose internet on all my devices. I will then have to unplug my modem/router and close out of Plex to get things working properly again.

I am not a paying Plex Premium member. My question is…how do I get this working properly with no issues and why is my internet going berserk and shutting off when the server is enabled on my PC?

I’m so frustrated over it but I’m also incredibly non-tech savvy so this is all very confusing to me. I am not sure what I need to do to get things working right.

Is there any inexpensive device I can buy to fix this and get things flowing and streaming normally?

My one friend mentioned her friend actually has an entire server devoted to Plex that he shares with tons of people and they never have issues…how is that possible?

Any suggestions?

I regards to your network. Do you have things wired or wireless? How many devices are being used at one time, in your home? (phones, tablets, TV streaming devices) Is the router fairly new or have you had it for a while? (is it a G, N or AC)
