I want to program searches that match a keyword and then record a program, even if there isn’t an example of that program in the guide today. In general, I don’t want my searches limited to what I can see in the guide today.
This is old-school, simple keyword scheduling that was available on the ReplayTV over a decade ago. An example, if “auto racing” appears in the description of any TV show, I want to record it. It doesn’t matter if nothing appears in a search of the current guide db.
If this request or feature exists somewhere already, I haven’t found it through search yet.
If this is not the correct forum for suggesting a feature, or trying to find it if it does exist, please point me to the right place.
ATM, this simply does not exist.
There are a couple of feature suggestions out there requesting this.
Don’t ask for a reason why this hasn’t been part of the basic DVR functionality from the start of it… do not waste your time -)
OMG well thank you at least for saving me some time. I will make the feature suggestion as recommended above.
This was the single primary feature I used on all my DVRs until now, even Windows Media had it. Right now my Plex is underutilized while I surf Netflix and Hulu simply because this is not a feature. If I see a new show is coming up in a new season, I want to go NOW to setup a recording trigger for it. I don’t care if it’s 3 weeks off and not in the guide yet.
