Occasionally because of a local rain or wind storm, a recording gets corrupted. It’s not worth watching. So I delete it. But I noticed that Plex doesn’t automatically re-record it the next time it comes on the air. It’s almost like it thinks I’ve watched it, I’m done with it, I’ve deleted it, so never record it again.
Is there any way to flag it so that it will record it again next time around?
Nope, I have it set to record new and repeats. Specifically I just had a case of season 3 Big Bang Theory. It’s raining here in Ohio so I had to delete it. It was too blocky. I know it’s going to come around again in about 2 months, but it won’t record it.
So I figured out what was going on. Although I deleted a bad version of The Big Bang Theory, the next time it aired I was under the mistaken misconception that it didn’t record it. It did record it. So I do have a better copy of The Big Bang Theory episode that I deleted. Here’s what threw me. Apparently since I watched it the first time, to determine that it was choppy and didn’t make a good recording because of a storm, when it recorded it the second time it marked it as already being watched. I was looking for a new unwatched episode, but that wasn’t the case. Next time I delete something that is bad, I’m going to go back and mark it as unwatched oh, and then delete it. We’ll see what happens next time.
Watched status is retained even if you delete the file. This allows for replacing files with better quality versions without ruining the watched status.
It’s confirmed. That’s actually what it was. It was remembering that I had previously watched it so it wasn’t showing up as Something newly recorded.
Yesterday I did a test. I watched something, then marked it as unwatched, then deleted it, and last night it re-recorded it from the antenna and marked it as unwatched (aka newly recorded)
