I’ve recently shared 5 playlists individually with all local users and I can verify that they are shared from within the manage users screen, but I cannot find how they can access them. I’ve tried from within the roku app and web. None of the users can see the playlists that are shared with them.
This will never get implemented, I been following this requests for years. Seems to be ignored, there was a mention of it during the start of COVID, something for teachers, but I didn’t see anything materialize from it.
Good grief, I made a couple cool music playlists and asked friends to take a look. They can’t see them. I ASSUMED that they could use my playlists as it is such a normal thing in other music apps. Update: I’m trying out Single Item Sharing (as seen directly above my post) to see if it will work for me.
I’m with you Mr_Lumens. I’ve done the single item share and it is not at all what we have asked for. If I can share my library, then why not its relevant playlists?
It’s great that you can do this from your server now. I just realized this sometime last month, and shared a playlist from my server account to the account I actually use to watch on, and also to some friends. Why do I have two accounts though? Because I don’t like to watch from my server/admit account, and that would be because I like to keep it on a password while the other is not. The other is what me and the family watch in different locations around the house, and nobody can delete stuff from that one. Only NOW did I just find out that you cannot share the other way around though, only from the admin account out to your friends. This sucks cuz I just finished editing a really useful TV_Show playlist, but did it on my non-admin account, and now I know that I can’t send to others. So that would be my request, enabling the sharing of lists to be done by regular users too. If not that, then maybe maybe the playlist a little more useable. OR add some other sort of watchlist feature too. What I would like to do, ideally, is just click on a ‘heart’ or something and have that show go to the list, but not every single episode, like it does when you send it to a playlist. I don’t at all like to scroll thru the entire playlist full of 20 to 100 episodes of each show, I just want to see the show title or just episode one of each. What I did on my TV_Show playlist, which was a bit time consuming, was remove all episodes except the first for each show, so it’s a much more condensed list. BUT I can’t share it because it’s not on my admin account. Oh, and I noticed a comment long ago by someone disputing the suggestion of not needing playlists anyway because you can just search for something just as easily. Well, it’s not so easy because I can’t remember stuff from years ago, or even months ago or weeks ago. So when something new adds to my server, I like to add it to the list right away. Now it seems I’m going to have to start watching off of my admin account only, if I want to use this feature, and then still go thru the process of removing all but the #1’s off of that playlist. UGH!
I have created a “Play List” for the Marvel series and tried to share it with friends and family who my server is shared with. I have found where you can click and choose to share the list, but it never shows up to the other acts. I did this on my main act and like the above poster, I use a different act that doesn’t have a password for general use in our house so the visiting grand kids don’t accidentally mess up my admin act. The comment that a playlist isn’t necessary is wrong.
