I’m really surprised this feature hasn’t been added yet as well.
In theory the admin should be able to create a public or private playlist (internal flag). Then on any client it can pull the specific user playlist as well as the public playlists. The end user can modify their own playlists but not a public playlist which is “admin” only.

+1, I would love to have this feature. I just spent an hour creating a play list for a friend and now i have to screenshot it and have them recreate it using there account.
Come on guys… people have been asking for this for almost 3 years… can we get this implemented? Please? Pretty Please? I don’t see the point in me making multiple folders with the same movies just so that my users can see the “playlists” I recommend… Playlists are already implemented, just give me the option to share them or create them on the server for everyone to see.
… and don’t get me started on how the potential for the “recommended” section is completely wasted… I can recommend youtube videos and vimeo but not something that I am actually hosting on my server that they have access to view. I LOVE what you guys do for me, but can we can please use a little logic on the applications of the product. It’s here to give us an easier more beautiful way to host media for viewing and sharing with family and friends. …Let’s focus on the ability to do that.

I have a couple of use cases for this feature. First, I have a very picky and easily offended mother, and I’d like to share a playlist of movies that I think she would like, instead of the entire library. Second, I’d like to use my Plex server to do one-off playlists and send them to people who don’t normally have access to my server–kind of like sending them a mixtape.

I would love to share playlists with people in my Plex Home. It seems like a function that should exist. Plex has developed a “home” to allow quick user switching, except all of the cool playlists my partner and I thought up are only available on my user. Now if my partner wants to draw from those playlists for inspiration, she has to use my account. It defeats the purpose of the Plex Home users.
I would also love to use playlists to share with my friends outside of my home. With a library too expansive to easily browse, I’d love to make curated mood or themed playlists that they can use for a much better browsing experience.

I would love to see this as well. There are several TV shows now that cross over or tie in with movies. I have several playlists for this and would love to be able to share these after they are created for my friends and family that connect to my server.
New Plex user, I got here by googling “how to share playlist plex” because it’s one of the main things I want to do with plex. I saw that the thread started in 2014, and then with dismay saw that three years later there’s been no progress? As someone else pointed out upthread it should be EXTREMELY easy to implement a bare-bones version (a simple public/private flag on the list). What on earth is the holdup?

I created a few playlists for a series of movies. If the movies are viewed sequentially, there is added value. Also, some movies are not just better when viewed sequentially, there is also value in just being able to pick a movie to view from a smaller selection of movies that have some related factor, rather than scrolling through a larger collection. For instance, if I made a playlist of all the Marvel Cinematic Universe movies, I could view them in order much more easily without having to search each movie individually. Also, if I made a playlist of just Pixar shorts, I could view those in no particular order, but select from just that smaller selection.
Sharing playlists adds a lot of value.
I would love this feature too. As someone else made it explicit we are asking for this feature for 3 years now. Please implement this feature.
Personally I have featured content that I would like to share with specific users like some family related video with my brother. The videos are in a long list of other unrelated stuff and while I can navigate easily into that ( I manage the plex myself) my brother is not so familiar with it.

I spent heaps of time curating playlists only to discover that playlists are the one thing that I can’t share. So much time…

I’ve been telling some of the people who I share my library with to use my playlists for some movies that have a weird order (like Fast and the Furious) since I have a playlist in the correct order and just found out today that they aren’t able to see my playlists. When they go to playlists, they only see playlists that they have created from my library. I would really love to be able to share my playlists as it would also be great to be able to have recommend playlist for different users based on the types of movies I know they will like. +1 for Shared Playlists.
