Is there a way to have search results show only items in my media library and not show news and podcast?
There is not a way to exclude News and Podcast from search results, unless you disable these features for your account.
From Plex Web, click on your avatar in the top right and select account, then select “Online Media Sources” from the left and disable the features you don’t want.

This was driving me crazy. Even when there was content that I knew it should find amongst my movies, podcasts and news results were coming up ahead of the movies I was trying to find.
This was at least on my Android phone, and possibly even in other clients.
Regardless, I haven’t tried using podcasts on my Plex (or News), and the inclusion and primacy of those sources in my search results means I will disable them.
