Hi everyone, My daughter cannot find where the heck the “Update Library” button went on the latest update of PLEX on Amazon Fire, can someone offer me some step by step, and/or a photo? It’s no longer in the three black dots to the right of the category, not is it in the upper right corner like past iterations, what gives?
I uploaded her favorite show for her birthday last night, but she cant see it because her plex app through Firestick (she lives in anotehr city) has not updated the library for her- ugghhh. Thanks- Sad Dad!
The easiest way I’ve found to force a refresh is to apply a filter to the Library view and then remove it. For example, if you added a TV show and it isn’t showing, navigate to its library in the app. Then, at the top of the screen, make sure “Library” is selected (not “Recommended”). Below that, you should have the default filters: ALL, TV SHOWS, SORTED BY TITLE
Navigate down to ALL and select it. Click the Unplayed filter; it should show a check mark beside it now. Next, click it again to remove the check mark. This should refresh the view and display all content in the library.
It hasn’t gone anywhere. When you choose the three dots to the left of the entry on the sidebar, the next screen has the option labeled as “Scan Library Files”, along with unpinning the library and reordering the option on the sidebar.
That may work also. However, it doesn’t seem to always have the desire effect. Sometimes forcing a scan of the library via the app will cause the view to refresh, if you navigate out of the library and back in; other times it won’t. Particularly if the library was already updated server-side.
This is similar to another issue on the Apple TV Plex app we’ve been dealing with for months:

Yeah, I’ve noticed that lately. Running the scan would update the library but the view on the Fire TV device would not update automatically as it used to, and I had to exit out and come back into the library screen to see the new content. I’ve also seen an issue where the new content gets added, but the posters don’t move right to accommodate the new titles, so the new stuff spills off the left edge of the screen until you move left and then right again – kinda weird.
When I upload something to my server for someone, I run a manual update right then to make sure it gets matched correctly. But if OP wants to make his daughter jump through extra hoops, that’s none of my business.
