How does a "Home" user get plex app?

I have a PlexPass, and I’ve set up a user for home use. This person does not have a Plex account.
How do I get the android app on to their phone? Do they need to buy it?
Thanks

Either you create them an account on plex.tv, and add that plex.tv account to your PlexHome, or
You sign them in on their phone using your account, and select their user from the list of users that pops up.

For the managed user you created, install the plex app (no cost for this) from the appropriate App Store on their phone. Once installed, log into the Plex App with your admin account, then you will be presented with the list of Home Users. From here just select the managed user that owns the phone.

This works but really is a security issue. In an ideal world:
The Plex admin should not have to login to the device and possible can’t do this due to geography.
The user should just login as themselves and they should be recognized as a authorized user. What should really happen is that if a user connects to a server that is using plex-pass and has managed users then the software should function “fully” and if they connect to a server without plex-pass then it goes back to limited (unless the user themselves is a plex-pass user of course.

The problem with the current setup is that once the device is logged in with an admin account he/she has access to any shared servers the admin has since that is who is logged in on that device.

I personally have access to a couple of dozen Plex servers (guessing) so if I were to login as me on my dad’s, son’s or daughter’s device they would get access to those servers as well since they would be “me”.

That’s kinda why it’s called Plex Home as it expects you to only do this for users living in your Home

In my use of this feature I have never see this happen. I log into a device and I’m presented with the User Switching screen. The only way a shared member of my Plex Home could see anything that is shared to my account is if they guessed my PIN number.

What if I share my server with you as a normal user (not home)? NO PIN involved.
Remember an admin can only be part of one home (1 server) but can be a normal user on many servers.

Would any device you login into not have access to my server AS YOU just by switching servers?

I would need to buy the mobile app, if I didn’t already have a PlexPass

and I’m not sure what that has to do with the OPs question about Plex Home users and using the mobile apps.

again, not sure what that has to do with Plex Home

Because the recommendation was to login as him (admin) on someone else’s device then have them select the home user on to on his server.

I was just pointing out this can have security implementation if you don’t know how this actually works.

I agree it does have issues, which is why it’s recommended to only do it for family

Agree with you.

I have various members of family added to my PlexHome, some trusted more than others. None of them are able to access any servers shared with me, as none of them have access to my account unless they’re able to somehow determine what the PIN is for my account.
