How does Plex identify available media players on the same network?

I am getting inconsistent results in display of the available players. Could someone enlighten me how Plex identifies players? I’m running latest versions of all software - PMS and Plexamp on an RPI and PMP on Linux, with a Sonos device all on the same internal network, and all my play attempts are via devices connected on the internal network. I did the following tests over the course of the same 20 minute period:

  • When selecting a player with the Web application it usually offers me the Sonos device and sometimes the browser i’m running Plex through on my desktop and occasionally the Plexamp player on the RPI, but never the Android Plex client.
  • When selecting a player using PMP for Linux, i am usually offered my Web browser, and sometimes Plexamp on the RPI, but never the Sonos devices. Sometimes I am only offered the Plexamp player on the RPI, sometimes nothing at all. Plexamp visibility often varies over the space of a 10 minute period.
  • When selecting a player with the Android Plex app I am usually offered the Sonos device, and sometimes the PMP player running on my Linux desktop, but never the Plexamp on the RPI.

Server Version#: 1.18.9.2578-513b381af)
PMS Player Version#: Version 4.29.2

I’m also seeing inconsistent lists of players, mine seems to vary depending on what I’m connecting from.
